Between Portarlington Road and Bellarine Highway is Newcomb. Affordability, larger than average blocks and even some acreages are promoting a flurry of investor/developer activity, as well as local first home buyer interest in recent years.
The creation of increasing stock levels is keeping capital growth trends pretty flat. But rental yield remains quite strong, up with some of Geelong’s better performing suburbs.
Newcomb has good excellent amenities with two major shopping centres dotting the Bellarine Highway as well as government primary and secondary schools and a catholic primary school. Bellarine Children’s Centre in neighbouring Thomson offers long day care, before and after school care and other programs.
Prospects for growth over time seem positive. Newcomb abuts the more desirable East Geelong to the west and early discussions regarding transformation of the nearby Cheetham Salt Works point to waterfront housing development.
